About the place

The present church was built in 1752 by Bishop Count Forgách Pál, probably to plans by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca. It has a tower with an onion-shaped top, three altars and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. In the hilltop cemetery you can see the ruins of a medieval church from 1413.

The church stands in the central park, next to the museum and the college. We found no published visiting hours; the interior can be seen at services.

Good to know

  • Go before or after Sunday mass if you want to see the interior and altars.
  • Keep quiet and do not take photos during services.
  • Walk the square: the college, museum and church are within 300 m of each other.
