It is the nearest show cave to Beiuș, open all year, with guided tours every hour.
About the place
The entrance portal is 16 m high and 10 m wide, and near the Natural Bridge the ceiling reaches 35 m. The cave has 4,750 m of galleries on two levels; Emil Racoviță studied it in 1921, it was refitted and opened to tourists in 1972 and the lighting was renewed in 2012. One of the country's largest bat colonies lives here, and cave-bear bones and traces of prehistoric people were found in the Hall of Bones.
Visits are guided, last about 50 minutes and start every hour, with at least 2 people. The last entry is at 3 pm (December–February), 4 pm (March–April and November) or 5 pm (May–October); the first is at 10 or 11 am. Tickets cost 40 lei for adults and 30 lei for children aged 5–18, cash or card. From Meziad village a paved road climbs to the Meziad chalet, then you walk about 1.2 km up the Cave Valley. Inside it is 9–12 °C.
Good to know

- Bring a warm layer and shoes with good grip: it is 9–12 °C and damp inside.
- Do not use flash or your phone torch: it disturbs the bats and is forbidden.
